Thank you all for your kind calls and comments concerned about Lilly's procedure. She is doing wonderfully and her smile is healthy now. Here is how things went at the dentist: The Anesthesilogist tried to 'trick' Lilly while giving her a shot by putting a box of toys in front of her while he snuck a shot in her arm. Well, you can't trick Lilly and she knew it was coming and when it did, she looked at him and said "that really hurt" in the saddest little voice I've ever heard. Then of course she started to cry. It took a few minutes for the sleepy shot medicine to kick in and when it did it was so scary for me. Lilly shook a little and just had this dazed look, I hated seeing her like that. We laid Lilly down on the dentist chair and were asked to go wait in the waiting room. About 45 minutes later they came and got us and we waited in the recovery room with Lilly while she slowly woke. The dentist came in while we were waiting and said that Lilly did awesome and he was able to repair all of the teeth affected by the lack of enamel. He was also able to coat a few of her teeth with a sealant. Unfortunately her molars aren't up enough to seal, but when the are I am totally getting that done too. He said that we have been doing a great job at keeping her teeth healthy and to keep it up and hopefully we wont have to do this again. The lack of enamel could be genetic, or it most likely was caused by some disruption during pregnancy. We will just need to bring Lilly back to the dentist every 3-months for fluoride treatments and check-ups.
Lilly was up and riding her tricycle about 5 hours after her appointment. She also downed a jello, a pudding, a yogurt and a bunch a juice for dinner. The dentist told us to keep her on a soft diet for a few hours, I think Lilly wishes she could always be on a soft diet :) She literally drank the jello from it's container.
Today Lilly seems to be back to normal and her happy self. We went to the Library, Costco, Walmart and Wendy's this morning and she seemed just fine :) She also helped Mike work in the backyard on yet another project...
