Sunshine, hard work and Chinese food

We had a very fun and productive weekend. Mike finished our tool shed in the back yard and we cleaned up the patio and yard. Lilly is enjoying the planter box her and Mike made the other day. We are going to plant peas, beans and cherry tomatoes in it. Right now there are a few bean and pea plants. They probably wont make it through this crazy spring weather, but it's fun for Lilly.
We also filled up Lilly's swimming pool to play in, she LOVED that. It was warm enough for both Mike and I to get sunburns too! Lilly had sunscreen on, so she didn't get burned. Of course I forgot to put it on myself, though. I opened up all the windows in the house to let out all of the winter air :) I also got to clean the kitchen to the point of sparkling thanks to Lilly taking a 3 hour nap. I think she was totally worn out from playing so hard in the backyard all morning.

I would have to say that my highlight of the weekend was ordering chinese delivery. Mike and I were both too tired to cook anything for diner and decided to order out. In our almost ten years of being together we have NEVER ordered Chinese delivery. It was a blast to see Lilly's excitment when the delivery driver came and brought the food. Lilly also thought that using chopsticks was the greatest way to eat her chicken she liked the noodles and soup too!

We borrowed the book "Waiting for May" from the library so it was fun to show Lilly that we were eating chinese food, kind of like the food that they eat in China where baby May was from. On a side note I highly recomend this book it was so sweet, infact I cried in a few parts while reading it to Lilly for the first time. Even though we haven't adopted internationally, the feelings of recieving such a gift are similar no matter how you adopt. I can tell Lilly is totally ready for a new baby sister or brother. A few days after reading this book to her she kept yelling out the back door "I want my baby sister!" it is so neat to see her desire to be a big sister too.

After dinner we made homemade ice cream and Lilly loved that too! I love, love, love my ice-cream maker and we use it a lot during the summer. One of our favorite things to make is frozen yogurt, it's a bit healthier and soooo good.
